Shopify Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 a month on a 1-year term, in the US. That is the licence. On top of it you pay card processing on every sale (2.25% + 30¢ online with Shopify Payments), your apps, and the build. On fees alone, Plus only becomes cheaper than the Advanced plan at about $800,000 of online sales a month. Below that, you pay for features, not savings.

A few things decide what you actually pay:
- Contract term. In the US, the 3-year term saves $200 a month against the 1-year term: $27,600 a year instead of $30,000.
- Variable platform fee. Shopify says that “more complex, higher volume” businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model. It doesn’t publish the percentage; you get it in a quote.
- Card rates. International cards add 1% in the US, and premium cards cost 2.95% + 30¢. In-person sales cost 2.3% + 10¢.
- Other payment providers. If you don’t use Shopify Payments, Shopify adds 0.2% on every sale, on top of what your provider charges.
- Expansion stores. Your main store and 9 expansion stores are included. Each store after that costs $300 a month, or a revenue share across all stores.
Shopify Plus vs Advanced: what the extra money buys
Advanced costs $299 a month billed yearly ($399 billed monthly), so Plus costs about $2,000 a month more. This is what changes, from Shopify’s own comparison table:

When Plus pays for itself
Plus has lower card rates, so at some level of sales the savings cover the higher licence. With Shopify Payments in the US, the card rate drops by 0.25 points and the licence costs $2,001 a month more than Advanced billed yearly. The two cross at $800,400 of online sales a month, about $9.6 million a year.
Monthly cost at different levels of sales, assuming a $100 average order and domestic cards:

Two things move the line:
- Another payment provider. Shopify’s third-party fee falls from 0.6% on Advanced to 0.2% on Plus, a 0.4-point gap, so Plus catches up at about $500,000 a month.
- Monthly billing on Advanced. At $399 a month, the crossing comes at about $760,000 a month.

The costs nobody publishes
The licence is the smallest line for most Plus stores. Here is what a first year looks like for a brand selling $5 million a year online, with a $100 average order and Shopify Payments:

At that size Plus costs about $11,500 a year more in Shopify fees. Whether it is worth it depends on what the Plus features save you: a checkout that converts better, B2B without workarounds, expansion stores instead of separate subscriptions.

- Build or migration. We quote Shopify Plus builds per project, because the scope varies most there. For reference, our published floors are from €5,000 for a migration to Shopify, from €8,000 for a custom theme built from your design, and from €9,000 for design plus a custom theme. A design in Figma alone starts at €1,000, depending on the number of page templates.
- Ongoing development and optimization. From €500 a month with us.
- Apps. Reviews, subscriptions, search, loyalty and ERP connectors are billed by each vendor, often by order volume. List the ones you need before comparing quotes.
